On 27 February 2015, sons and daughters of Guneku assembled on the palace grounds of the village for the long-awaited return of HRH Fomuki Walters Ticha — who arrived in younger and energetic clothing, ready to lead the Fondom into a new era. The official Coronation ceremony followed on 17 January 2016 — a historic gathering of Guneku indigenes from Cameroon, Germany, the United States, and beyond. The event was marked by traditional rites, the installation of the new Traditional Council, and the public proclamation of Fomuki Walters Ticha IX as the reigning Fon of Guneku.
Fon Fomuki Walters Ticha IX leads through a philosophy of unity, development, and diaspora engagement. Based in Germany while maintaining deep ties to the village, he has championed inclusive development through cooperatives (GUNECCUL), youth empowerment (GUYODECA), agricultural enterprise (Agro CIG), and cultural renaissance (Mɨchi Əbeŋ Festival). His governance bridges modern professional life in Europe with his sacred duty as a traditional ruler — embodying the Guneku principle: 'talking and doing'.
