HRH DR. FOMUKI WALTERS TICHA IX

“We carry Guneku in our hearts wherever we are in the world. But Guneku must grow — in the village, in the diaspora, and in the digital world.”

HRH Fon Fomuki Patrick Nji, who had reigned since 1965, passed on 28 January 2015. On 27 February 2015 sons and daughters of Guneku assembled on the palace grounds for the Transfiguration Ceremony, at which the Fon of Nyen anointed HRH Fomuki Walters Ticha in public. A launching gala followed at the Mbengwi Council Hall in November 2015, attended by all the Meta villages, and on 30 December 2016 the Fon presented himself to the people of Meta — the return address promised at the time of his predecessor’s passing. These were distinct stages of one succession and are recorded here as such.

Fon Fomuki Walters Ticha IX leads through a philosophy of unity, development, and diaspora engagement. Based in Germany while maintaining deep ties to the village, he has championed inclusive development through cooperatives (GUNECCUL), youth empowerment (GUYODECA), agricultural enterprise (Agro CIG), and cultural renaissance (Mɨchi Əbeŋ Festival). His governance bridges modern professional life in Europe with his sacred duty as a traditional ruler — embodying the Guneku principle: 'talking and doing'.
