On Saturday 21 December 2019, close to a hundred people living with disabilities from across the Mbengwi subdivision were hosted in the arena of the Guneku Palace by HRH Dr. Fomuki Walters.
A cheque of 500,000 FCFA was presented for socio-economic empowerment. There were songs, drama and a debate, and the Kwem Dance Group of Guneku performed. Those present included Meta indigenes, people from outside Meta, and Mbororo.
Among those named at the occasion were Ngwa Vitalis, representing the Fon; Agwe Eric Tata, President of the Association of Persons with Special Abilities, Mbengwi; Ndingwan Primus, Chairman of the Guneku Traditional Council; and Princess Fomuki Carine, a disability expert who worked with the SEEPD Programme of the CBC Health Service.
The occasion followed the handover at Rainbow Radio in June of the same year, and it began the pattern the Palace has kept up since.
