Following a crisis meeting of the Meta Fons’ Union (MEFU) on 29 September 2020, a commission of five Fons produced a ten-page report, published as the MECUDA Renaissance Report, carrying seven resolutions on the ordering of the clan’s development association.

The commission was made up of HRH Mbabit II of Mbemi; HRH Fon P. Fonyam V of Zang Tembeng; HRH Dr. Walters Fomuki IX of Guneku; HRH Prof. Mbacham W. F. Tarkeh II of Funam; and HRM Mbahmeta Fon Fominyen Ngya II of Nyen, President of MEFU.

The report was built on a survey run over about six weeks, in which 121 people were contacted with a response rate of 73 per cent. Respondents included Fons, mafaws, clergy, elite groups, the MECUDA executive, village association presidents, home coordinators in Cameroon, and MECUDA members in the United States, China, Germany, France, South Africa, Canada and the United Kingdom.

One recorded cultural note is worth keeping: the foundation of MECUDA began as the Kwem cultural dance group, and that foundation remains in the palace.

The substance of the resolutions is internal to MECUDA and is not reproduced here.
