Munam F.C., of Lower Guneku, reached the final of the maiden Mujang and Berto Prince Tournament and were beaten on post-match penalties by Hilltop Strikers of Gunenung. The final was played on Saturday 15 August 2026 at the Catholic School Field, Njindom, in torrential rain, before more than five hundred spectators from across the Tondig zone and beyond. The champions took a trophy and 350,000 FCFA.
The tournament ran for more than a month. Ten teams competed: Hilltop, Munam, Njinibi, Mbengeghang, Zem, Nyen, Barakwe, Bessi, Njindom and Wumnembug.
Cross-country race
The final was preceded by a cross-country race from Njindom to Mile 19 and back. Abdu Munini won the male category and Tata Victory Ijang, aged 14, from Sang, won the female category. Each received 30,000 FCFA.
Semi-finalists received new sets of jerseys, members of the organising committee received tracksuits, and gold, silver and bronze medals were awarded.
The donors
The cups were donated by Mujang Louis, known as Abe Mujang, in the United States, and Berto Prince, in China. Their representative confirmed a second edition next year, with handball and a girls’ football competition expected to be added. The tournament was launched on Sunday 5 July 2026 on the same field.
